IS WORDPRESS WORTH IT?

Dec 06, 2022

Wordpress, being one of the most popular website platforms, must be worth the price, right? Well, it's not a simple answer.

As website designers, we get asked if we use WordPress a lot. We can happily say that we don't. This comes as a shock to some customers because they've been told they must build in WordPress, but this could not be further from the truth.

To start, we need to learn why people choose WordPress to build their websites. WordPress has huge aftermarket support in the widgets and plugin world. Many businesses build and design templates or themes to help users have a better experience and make more powerful websites. This can be a great for users as they can quickly pick up the platform and build a website easily with no prior skill in website design, but it comes with its downsides. Build time, complex tools, and cost. Because of all the tools you have at your fingertips, WordPress can quickly become complex, and the fancy widgets can get very pricey. That’s why we steer everyone towards a program called Without Code. A new website builder that takes the hassle out of website building.

While WordPress itself is free to use, all the fancy widgets and plugins are not, and they can really add up. Not only are the widgets expensive but the platform itself, while giving you a platform with a lot of freedom, often give users too many tools at their fingertips and they end up overwhelmed and confused. Since WordPress was originally designed as a blogging platform, website design is not its indented use, and this comes with a price. All of this adds up to making the website building process a lot slower and more difficult resulting in higher design costs when using a professional designer. Or if you are the designer, time is still a major factor when building. The longer it takes, the more it costs the customer, and you may not get jobs because your quotes are higher than alternative options. With all the aftermarket support you can really build anything if you know how. And that’s the key, while the initial learning curve for WordPress is small, learning all the fancy features and widgets can be very time consuming.

At the end of the day, WordPress may be worth the cost for you. If you are looking to have some fancy plugins added to your website that no other platforms offer, then WordPress may be for you. But we find many small business owners would rather build on other platforms as they are cheaper and still have many powerful features.

That is why we use Without Code to build all our websites. The name Without Code means exactly that. No more code to have to learn how to write and/or understand. They are a newer website builder that we love more and more every day. From its easy-to-use platform to quick and powerful tools, www.wocode.com is a great platform for small businesses. As a web-based platform, there are some serious advantages. One of our favorite features is their CMS user interface. Not only can customers view their website before it is live, but they can also make edits to the website. From text edits and image replacements to store management or make blog posts, Without Code doesn’t hold back. Our favorite part of this platform is that you and the customer can see exactly what the website will look like in the editor before the website goes live. When the client views that website in the editor, they will be able to view and interact with everything as if it were live while being able to make edits.

The cost of Without Code is also significantly less. You won’t find yourself paying for endless amounts of plugins because everything is already built into the platform. The only additional cost is for an online store, but any platform will have an additional cost for this. Since everything is integrated into the platform, including the store, the user has a much more seamless experience, and they are always optimizing the platform and adding new widgets to make your website more powerful.

Without Code SEO

SEO is so important in the world of web. Without it, you will never get noticed. Without code has recently been putting a lot of effort into improving their SEO game making it easier for you as the end user. As Without Code is a web-based platform, they are constantly updating all the websites on their platform in the background to make sure they are running optimally and performing as they should on Google. They have also introduced many easy to access and do features like automatic schema to many widgets and other areas of the website so that you can save time and not have to worry about it. No more writing large amounts of code, adding it to your website, updating your website and checking to see if it worked only to find out there was a typo. By simply inputting your business info and toggling a switch, your schema is live and helping you rank better. If you are trying to make your website look great and perform its best, Without Code is amazing for helping you get there.

We believe in building website that are very effective and attractive while keeping the price as affordable as possible. Without Code is one of those ways we can keep our cost down and quality up. By saving money from the software to saving time in the building process, we believe this is the future of web building. We are not sponsored by Without Code in any way, we just like their platform a lot as it fits what we need perfectly, and we are happy to promote solid companies that care about their customers and make great stuff.

Yes, there are template builders out there that are significantly cheaper than our offerings, but they are taking the design out of websites. If you are a serious business, why would you cheap out on a website and use a template that thousands of other businesses have used? Your brand will look cheap and show your customers that you don’t take yourself seriously. We believe that all websites should be custom. Catered to your business and designed tastefully in an effective way that promotes your business in its best light. Why would you put your business at risk in today’s competitive market. If you are low quality, your potential customers will find someone that isn’t, you need to stand out and make a lasting impact.

At the end of the day, WordPress is kind of like having a luxury car. Yes, it has massage seats and interior RGB lights, but these are all just distractions that cost a fortune. The real question you should asking yourself is, is my website effective? All the fancy widgets look great but don’t add to the actual value of your website, so you are really paying for gimmicky things to keep people from learning about your business. Why not invest your money in quality content and design over distractions? Without Code allows for you to build stunning websites that have the powerful tools you need, no distractions.
